Weihenstephan Standards

The communication interface for your machines

The Weihenstephan Standards (WS) define a communication interface for the standardized transmission of machine data to higher-level IT systems. The WS can be implemented quickly and easily in all machines in the food and beverage industry and define the data content to be transmitted. Get rid of your interface problems and also benefit from the cost-efficient and future-proof standard!

WS Bake Version 11

Our new project "WS Bake Version 11" is about to start, which has the goal to transfer WS Bake into Version 11 and thus into a holistic and future proof OPC UA information model, as we have defined it in WS Sweets. Learn more about the project concept and which innovations and benefits the standard in version 11 can offer:

Interfaces

Definition of the communication interfaces

The Weihenstephan standards define communication standards that are easy to implement. It describes how WS data points can be transmitted to higher-level IT systems and from machine to machine.

The following communication options are available:

WS OPC UA
WS Protokoll

Datapoints

Definition of WS data points

The Weihenstephan Standards contain a total of 440 practice-relevant data points for all WS domains. All WS data points are clearly defined. Thus, there is a cross-industry, uniform understanding of the data points to be exchanged, which can significantly reduce the individual effort of interface programming.

Machine profiles

Definition of WS machine profiles

The Weihenstephan Standards define over 150 different machine classes. In domain-specific machine profiles, typical machine classes are assigned WS data points. These permutation tables show which data points must be provided or can be provided optionally.

IT functionalities

Exemplary definition of IT functionalities

The Weihenstephan standards provide domain-specific recommendations for the processing of machine and process data.

It is shown how various MES or IT functionalities can be enabled on the basis of the WS data points.
These are for example:

– Calculation of key figures – Batch and article tracking – Quality assurance – Material management – Process visualization for production monitoring – Production planning – Creation of production reports

The WS Domains

The Weihenstephan Standards define both universally applicable communication interfaces and the data that must be provided for acquisition. The required data points and contents as well as the evaluation recommendations have been defined on an industry-specific basis and are available so far for the following industries:

What advantages do the Weihenstephan Standards offer you?

The Weihenstephan Standards offer predefined and standardized data content as well as uniform communication interfaces and WS software tools that significantly reduce the effort required in project planning and implementation. Thus, by using the Weihenstephan standards, you save time and costs in IT integration.
